Lovely Keira in marital-infidelity drama
“Last Night,” a marital-infidelity drama that bowed at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, has secured distribution through Tribeca Film and Miramax.
The deal, announced today, gives Tribeca Film theatrical, VOD and select digital rights to “Last Night,” which is eyeing a Spring 2011 release. Miramax, meanwhile, retains distribution rights for home video and television sales and long-term digital rights.
“Last Night” stars Keira Knightley and Sam Worthington as a married couple with doubts who watch those insecurities bubble to the surface when he takes a business trip with a beautiful co-worker (Eva Mendes) and she bumps into an old flame (Guillaume Canet).
“Tribeca Film and ‘Last Night’ are perfectly matched, and we are excited about the opportunity to bring this film to audiences across the country,” said Jon Patricof, Chief Operating Officer, Tribeca Enterprises.
In our Toronto review, we wrote that the film is “anti-date movie. … You can practically hear couples arguing, accusing, and deflecting as they emerge from the theater. But while ‘Last Night’ broaches the topic of infidelity, it stops short of digging too deep into why people cheat.”
