B&Bs good spot for married dating? Bed and breakfasts have become increasingly popular for their hospitality, so could be a good place to take your extra-marital lover for a romantic getaway.

David Weston, chief executive, the Bed and Breakfast Association, claims that Britain is a pioneer of the B&B.

He said: "We are also known for our 'Great British Breakfast', and the best places to enjoy that are at B&Bs, where your host will cook you a fresh breakfast, often using local ingredients.

"So British B&Bs have become popular for their hospitality, their breakfasts and their fantastic value."

Mr Weston added that there are number of sources that can be used to find an ideal B&B for a weekend away, including independent guide books and local tourist information centres.

According to the annual Travellers' Choice Hotel awards from TripAdvisor, Britain's B&Bs are officially the best in the world, with six British properties ranking among the world's top ten.

The best B&B The Old Manse, in Invermoriston, Scotland. Also included in the list were Saltcote Place in East Sussex and Number One B&B in Kent.
