Women consider married men to be 'better catch' than bachelors
4 Jan 2011
The reason why many women find themselves in an adulterous relationship may be because they consider a married man to be "a better catch" than bachelors are. That is according to an article in the Daily Mail, in which psychologist Anthony Little looked at a round-up of the research on the science of attraction.
One study looking at birds fish revealed that a male was made more attractive to the female if he had been previously seen with another partner.
Scientists also discovered that human men are considered more attractive if they are surrounded by other women.
The article states: "When deciding if someone is attractive, we take our cue from others.
This, as some wives already know to their cost, makes a married man a better catch than a bachelor. The phenomenon [is] known as 'mate poaching'."
It suggests that this research could explain why Angelina Jolie was attracted to Brad Pitt, in spite of the fact that he was married to Jennifer Aniston.
