Scientists discover what makes people attractive

Scientists discover what makes people attractive Scientists from the University of St Andrews in Scotland have found out the factors that make people attractive.

Lead author of the study, David Perrett, reveals that people tend to seek a bit of nookie from those who resemble themselves, reports The Seattle Times.

He reveals that although symmetry within faces is often considered to be attractive, this is not a determining factor in what people find attractive.

Professor Perrett told the news provider: "One rule is symmetry - it does make faces more attractive. But it's a small factor.

"Another rule is averageness. That may seem contradictory, but we like to choose things that are familiar to us."

He added that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and that there are many reasons why people are attractive to certain faces.

To conduct the study, professor Perrett used computer graphics to explore how people choose mates. His study is named In Your Face: The New Science of Human Attraction.
