Quarter of over 50s have had an adulterous relationship One in four people aged above 50 have had a bit of nookie with an extra-marital lover, making them the most promiscuous age group in the UK population.

That is according to recent research by the Co-operative Pharmacy, which also revealed that one in three people aged between 51 and 55 had "slept around".

However, the survey also found that one in three people in this age bracket had a bit of nookie unprotected, with most respondents claiming that they got "carried away in the moment".

Lisa McCreesh, a pharmacist from the Co-operative, said: "Our research challenges the belief that teenagers are more promiscuous than older generations.

"They unfairly get a bad name, while those in their 50s, who grew up in the 60s and 70s, are living up to the era's carefree image as they take greater risks with their sexual health."

It was recently suggested by an expert at the Terrence Higgins Trust that with the party season fast approaching, people expecting to get a bit of nookie should make sure they carry a condom.
