Vain people more likely to cheat?
2 Dec 2010
It seems vain people are more willing to cheat in all aspects of their life, not just with a mistress in the bedroom.According to research from Ohio State University, students who have narcissistic personalities were found to be more willing to cheat if they thought it would help advance them academically than their peers.
Males were also less likely to feel guilt about doing so than women, the Daily Express reports.
Anecdotal evidence suggests that such statements can also be applied to extra-marital affairs, with men often more capable of enjoying a bit on the side without feeling as bad about it.
In some non-Western cultures, infidelity has come to be seen as something of a badge of honour, with extra-marital dating increasingly becoming a respectable phenomenon in Russia, according to Slate.
"Men's environment here pushes them towards cheating," one Russian woman told the magazine.
The online magazine reports that a study as long ago as 1998 revealed that Russian men and women were the most willing out of those from 25 different countries to engage in and approve of extramarital affairs.
