New book reveals adultery of Swedish King

A new biography of the King of Sweden reveals the reserved monarch has had a number of secret affairs.

Carl XVI Gustaf - The Reluctant Monarch is an unofficial biography that has been written by three authors, including Thomas Sjoberg.

It has been widely reported that the book will expose the sexploits of the king during the 1990s and alleges that he had wild, alcohol-fuelled orgies.

The 64-year-old King of Sweden married Queen Silvia in 1976 and, until these allegations surfaced, he has been considered as quiet and dignified.

In a statement, he did not deny the illicit allegations. He said: "I have spoken with my family and the Queen and we choose to turn the page and move forward because, as I understand, these are things that happened a long time ago."

This may suggest that both Queen and family are willing to forgive any extra-marital dating, a trend which appears to be commonplace within high-profile relationships.

Both Wayne Rooney and Peter Crouch were recently reported to have had a bit on the side, but both Abbey Clancy and Coleen Rooney forgave their unfaithful beaus.
