Flirting not considered cheating

29 Sep 2010
Flirting not considered cheating The majority of people in relationships do not consider it cheating if their partner flirts with or sends saucy messages to a member of the opposite sex.

That is according to a new survey of 3,000 people conducted by extra marital dating service lovinglinks.co.uk.

Research showed that people were more concerned with physical cheating rather than developing an emotional bond with someone else, results which surprised the dating website.

A spokesperson said: "We were expecting the results to show that sex is just sex, and that sharing intimate thoughts and feelings with someone other than a partner would be much more hurtful … Instead people feel the exact opposite."

Findings revealed that while nine out of ten women would end a relationship if their partner was having sex with a mistress regularly, eight out of ten Brits wouldn't care if their partner became "emotionally" involved with someone else.

The Loving Links spokesperson said: "While Brits don't like to think of a partner cheating, they are becoming more open minded about the need for excitement outside the confines of a relationship.

"Most also seem to understand that it is natural to have naughty thoughts about people other than their partner.

"And the average person admits they would let their partner cheat at least once before ending the relationship altogether."

However, contrary to the findings, results also revealed that one in five women would forgive her unfaithful beau if they had a one night stand, so long as it meant nothing.

This survey follows a OnePoll survey from earlier this year which found that one in five Brits are in love with someone who is not their partner.
