A bit of nookie is good for the brain
3 Aug 2010
Having a secret affair may make your brain larger as scientists reveal that a bit of nookie increases brain cell growth.Researchers at Princeton University have found that pleasurable situations, such as sex, increases brain growth in mice.
It was also revealed that stressful situations, such as not having sex, hindered brain growth.
The scientists used three control groups of male mice; one group had access to sex daily, one had sex once in two weeks and the other did not have sex at all.
Findings showed that the mice that had sex daily did not have elevated levels of stress hormones where as the other two did. They were also more likely to eat in unfamiliar environments and were less anxious than their deprived counterparts.
Compared to the virgin mice, the two sexually active groups had more neurons in their brains, had a greater growth of brain cells and had an increase in the number of brain cell connections.
So those considering taking an extra-martial lover should do so straight away as it may end up making your brain bigger.
