Number of past sexual partners 'not important'
20 Jul 2010
If you and your extra-marital lover are coming to the point where a "number chat" is imminent, it should be noted that you should not worry about revealing how many sexual partners you have had in the past.Fiona Cowood, features director at lifestyle magazine Cosmopolitan, claims that if a man is bothered by how many people you have had sex with then he is not worth your time.
She said: "It's a very bad sign if a man's going to judge you negatively because you've been honest and open about your sexual past.
"Attraction, enjoying one another's company, compatibility - these are all way more important when forming a judgement of a possible new partner - a number is just a number."
Ms Cowood's comments were made following a survey that revealed that men are more likely to lie about their number of past sexual partners than women are.
According to research by MyVoucher-codes.co.uk, 36 per cent of women and 43 per cent of men have lied to a partner about how many people they have had sex with.
Of these, 64 per cent of women claimed to have slept with less people than they actually had, while 59 per cent of men increased their 'magic number'.
