Women want more sex in their 30s and 40s

Women want more sex in their 30s and 40s Women aged in their 30s and 40s are more likely to be up for a bit of nookie because subconsciously they are aware that their biological clock is ticking.

Research by the University of Texas has also found that women in this age bracket are more likely to have sexual fantasies and adulterous relationships.

The study took into account 900 women who were divided into age brackets and asked about their attitudes to sex.

It revealed that women aged between 27 and 45 had the best sex lives.

Professor David Buss said: "Results indicate women with declining fertility have greater sexual motivations and increased sexual behaviours than do women with relatively high fertility."

Allan Pacey, a Sheffield University IVF expert, told the Daily Mail that these results show that women in this age bracket want more sex because in evolutionary terms, it is what comes naturally to them.

He added that the trend in 'cougar' relationships, which sees an older woman with a younger man, also supports this theory as a younger man is more likely to bring about conception.

Celebrity couples that support this theory include Kylie Minogue and Andreas Velencoso, Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger and Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher.
