Friends will not keep your secret affair a secret

People enjoying the company of an extra-marital lover should be warned not to tell friends about their adulterous relationship.A survey by South African news website iol.co.za revealed that 69 per cent of people would inform a cuckolded friend that their partner had been playing away from home, despite the effect it may have on the couple's relationship.
Of the 1,260 people asked, only 393 said that they would not tell about a partner getting a bit on the side.
Stuart, one of the respondents, told the news provider: "Bit of a tricky one this. I think it depends upon how well you really know your friend.
"Chances are that they already know and you telling them will force them to do something about it, rather than secretly letting it 'run its natural course' in secret."
However, with the overwhelming majority claiming they would rat out a love cheat, adulterers may want to consider keeping their secret affair just that.
Like Stuart, marriage therapist Mira Kirshenbaum advocates keeping an adulterous relationship hidden because owning up has a more damaging effect in the long run.
