Men should leave shopping to their mistress Men playing away from home may be pleased to hear that they now have an excuse to leave the shopping to their wives and mistresses.

Researches have discovered that a chemical found on some till receipts could suppress male hormones, possibly rendering him impotent, the Telegraph reports.

The compound, Bisphenol A (BPA), is used to make ink invisible on thermally sensitive paper and can be ingested if men handle receipts and then tough their mouths or food.

This could be bad news for adulterous women, as their bit on the side may turn into very little on the side.

Professor Frank Sommer, a Berlin-based urologist, told the news provider: "A substance like that could shift the balance of the sex hormones in men towards oestrogen.

"In the long term this leads to less sexual drive, encourages the belly instead of the muscles to grow and has a bad effect on erection and potency."

BPA is also widely used in the internal lining of food and drink tins as it toughens the lining.

Seven experts last December wrote to the health secretary calling for a review of BPA use.
