Ten minutes 'perfect' for a bit of nookie

Those enjoying the bedroom benefits of a secret affair may be interested to hear that ten minutes is the ideal amount of time spent for most people.

A survey of 50 members of the Society for Sex Threapy and Research revealed that there was an optimum length of time for the perfect bit of nookie.

The study found that between one and two minutes was too short, three to seven was "adequate" and over 13 minutes was too long.

Between seven and 13 minutes was reported to be "desirable", suggesting that the perfect length of time was ten minutes.

Study researcher Eric Corty said: "Many men and women seem to believe the fantasy of all-night-long intercourse.

"This seems a situation ripe for disappointment and dissatisfaction …We hope this survey will dispel fantasies and encourage men and women with realistic data."

The researchers added that popular culture had created a myth regarding how long sex should last.

According to the Daily Mail, a past study by the researchers had revealed that people had wanted sex sessions to last 30 minutes or longer.
