Secret affair storyline in Coronation Street praised

Coronation Street producer Phil Collinson has praised the storyline that sees Molly Dobbs and Kevin Webster have an adulterous relationship.

The secret affair between the two characters began last summer and has been through numerous twists and turns, including discovery by Molly's aunt Pam.

Despite the slow-burning plot not being popular with fans, Collinson said that he wanted plots to run for a longer time simultaneously rather than letting it burn out quickly, Digital Spy reports.

Mr Collinson told the news provider: "Hopefully what you'll start seeing is that there will be big stories going on at the same time that we dip in and out of.

"The Molly and Kevin storyline was quite rapidly heading for a conclusion. One of the first things I did was to stop that. I believe in mining as much as I possibly can from a story and particularly from one as good as this."

Actress Vicky Binns, who plays adulterous Molly, also praised the plot line, telling the news provider that she was "privileged" to have been given it.
