Unfaithful husbands should beware of 'mobile snooping' Husbands partaking in an extra-marital affair that they wish to keep secret should beware of mobile snooping.

A new survey by mobile phone technology company Telstra has revealed that 40 per cent of women admit to regularly checking their partner's phone for romantic text messages, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The study looked at 1,250 participants in Australia who were quizzed on their mobile phone use when it came to flirting.

Findings revealed that a quarter of respondents said they, like British TV presenter Tess Daly, had caught their partner 'flirtexting' with a bit on the side, either through SMS message or email.

However, the study also found some handy tips for those looking to start an adulterous relationship.

It revealed that too many abbreviations, writing in caps-lock and overusing smiley faces were the biggest turn-off in texting – perhaps something to bear in mind when writing saucy messages to an extra-marital lover.

The study also found that one in five people had sent a flirty text to the wrong person by mistake, which could be a handy excuse should a partner discover an incriminating message.
