Branco gives footballers license to get a bit of nookie
8 Jun 2010
Brazilian sportsman Branco may have earned himself a few WAG enemies after giving footballers in the upcoming World Cup a good reason to play away from home. The full-back, whose real name is Claudio Ibrahim Vaz Leal, claims that getting a bit of nookie helped his side secure the World Cup win of 1994, the Telegraph reports.
"Sex is good for you. It relieves tension. We hadn't won the World Cup for 24 years so it didn't do us any harm," the news provider quoted him as saying.
However, in a possible dig at the antics of former England captain John Terry, Branco stopped short of advising players to kick-start an extramarital affair with one of their comrades' partners.
"Sex at the camp should only be ruled out with a team-mate's wife," the 46-year-old explained.
Earlier this year Terry was stripped of his captaincy after it emerged his secret mistress was none other than fellow player Wayne Bridge's ex-girlfriend and mother of his child Veronica Perroncel.
