Monogamy is not the secret to marital bliss, says couple

Monogamy is not the secret to marital bliss, says couple The secret to a long and happy marriage is allowing each other to get a bit of nookie.

That is the liberal opinion of British pensioners Ian and Jean Smith, who claim that their extramarital liaisons have helped them enjoy 30 years of marital bliss, the Metro reports.

Mr and Mrs Smith, aged 70 and 75 respectively, even state that their desire for getting a bit on the side has only gotten stronger with age and the pair remains highly sexually-motivated, much to the embarrassment of their children.

"We love going out, meeting new people and, of course, getting to know those people intimately if the situation or opportunity arises," Mr Smith told the news provider.

Furthermore, the couple admits to participating in the odd swingers' party, having been to no less than 300 since they first hooked up in the hedonistic days of the 70s.

Their story seems to echo that of Hollywood's own Mr and Mrs Smith, aka Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who started their extramarital romp while working on the 2007 hit film of the same title.

Like the Smith pensioners, Jolie has also been quoted as saying she does not think monogamy is essential in a relationship.
