Adulterous priest did not practice what he preached
7 Jun 2010
While the bible may teach against the wrongs of infidelity, it seems one priest in particular was keen to get with the times.Married Reverend Simon Lloyd, who is vicar of Minehead, in Somerset, was found to be having a secret affair with a member of his congregation.
But despite the revelations of his playing away from home, the father-of-one has reportedly stayed in his marital home.
This suggests that his cheated spouse may have shown a lenient attitude to his infidelities and may not see the need for any divine intervention.
A spokesperson for the diocese said: "Mr Lloyd has served the church with much love," the Mirror quoted them as saying.
The fact that the 51-year-old Reverend Lloyd was caught getting a bit on the side is perhaps testament to a growing trend among adults who are actively married but looking.
However, the church's more conservative members, omitting his mistress of course, may next time be hoping he takes the decision to practice what he preaches.
