Colin Montgomerie says infidelity will not affect his game Scottish golfing pro Colin Montgomerie has defended recent revelations of infidelity in his private life.

Speaking to reporters at Celtic Manor resort in Wales over the weekend, the 46-year-old washed over details of his secret affair with Jo Baldwin, a previous girlfriend.

When asked if he thought the revelation of adultery will impact on his captaincy at the next Ryder Cup he had a simple message.

"Not at all, not one bit, not at all," he stated.

"It is up to [my wife] Gaynor and I to work things out, and we are doing. We look forward to welcoming everybody here to Wales in October with a win."

He went on to say that the crowd had been very supportive of him and his wife, signaling perhaps that attitudes towards playing away from home are shifting.

Montgomerie previously wrote a newspaper column in which he discussed the adultery saga surrounding US golfer Tiger Woods. It may however be unlikely he will put his own unfaithful actions under the spotlight.
