Rich and famous 'pre-programmed' to be unfaithful There may be many reasons why people choose to play away from home, whether it is to get a bit of nookie, companionship or marital factors such as long distance relationships.

However, according to Daily Mail columnist Jan Moir, adultery comes somewhat intrinsically to men belonging to the celebrity camp.

"It has come to the point in Celebrityland where it astonishes no one that famous men - and it usually is the men - are pre-programmed to cheat on their spouses," she writes.

Moir pays reference to personalities such as Tiger Woods, Ashley Cole, Vernon Kay and Ronan Keating who have all been linked to extramarital relationships, whether in the physical or emotional sense.

"Why do they do it?" asks Moir. "Perhaps for the simplest reasons of all - because they want to and because they can."

While celebrity's partners may come under increasing pressure to 'punish' their wandering spouse, there are also many who are showing the world that marriages can work through infidelity.

John Terry and Toni Terry have remained united despite his playing away from home.
