For those who are playing away from home, the advice of one British journalist may come as music to their ears.Writing for the Daily Mail, Lucy Cavendish suggests that it may be beneficial for cheated spuses to remain ignorant to infidelity.
She says that while many of her friends will regularly check their partner's phones, Facebook accounts and email inboxes for extramarital communications, this is not a paranoid-induced activity she is to take part in any time soon.
"In order for us to continue our harmonious life, maybe it's better not to know," writes Ms Cavendish.
"I want to tell so many of my friends this. I have seen them destroyed by what they discover. Yet what good has it done them?"
She says that while some of her friends' partners may be getting a bit of nookie it is likely that this in not "impinging" on their marital life.
Hollywood superstar Jim Carrey launched a tirade on Twitter earlier this year in which he suggested that Tiger Woods's wife must have known about his secret affairs, rendering her pleas of ignorance untrue.
