Adultery in the Dales?

The writers of hit soap Emmerdale could be set to explore themes of adultery, if one of the star's suggestions is anything to go by.

James Thornton, who plays the "happily married" John Barton, says his character is leaving himself "open" to a secret affair.

In an interview with STV, he suggested that the Dale's latest sex siren Eve, played by blonde beauty Suzanne Shaw, could be about to bid for a bit of nookie with his character.

While playing away from home is not something John would have considered before, the ex-Hearsay songstress could prove too much of a temptation for the Dales' favourite dad.

"John's so secure in his relationship that he feels Eve isn't a threat, so he doesn't put up the barriers that he should," he told the news provider.

"He loves his family, and thinks Eve's just a nice girl with nothing malicious about her. By doing that he's leaving himself open to her charms."

Secret affairs in soap land are not uncommon. In EastEnders recently both Peggy Mitchell and Pat Butcher were getting a bit on the side with one unfaithful yet charming gentleman.
