TV historian to marry mistress?

Millionaire historian and TV presenter Niall Ferguson could soon be hearing the sound of wedding bells if reports are to be believed.

According to the Daily Mail, the Somali-born mistress of the Times 100 rich-list entry has plans to wed her secret lover.

The news provider reveals that Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who is a successful Dutch MP, told reputed Flemish magazine Libelle of her marital ambitions.

"Recently I have found new love - Niall Ferguson … He is a British historian and TV presenter. It is a complicated love affair. I am enormously in love with him," the Daily Mail quoted her as saying.

The pair met during a dinner party celebrating the Times Rich List of 2009, since when Ms Hirsi Ali has had to enter police protection in the states after she was issued with a death threat for insulting Islam.

Despite the controversy, she told the news provider she would love to bare a child with Ferguson and looks forward to the day she will be called 'mum'.

The millionaire is believed to have had a string of extramarital liaisons during his marriage to former newspaper editor Sue Douglas.
