Actor admits getting his teeth into mistress

US star David Boreanaz has admitted he was involved in a secret affair with an extramarital lover.

The 40-year-old, who is currently known for his role as Special Agent Seeley Booth in the American drama Bones, revealed he had been unfaithful to his wife of nine years, Jaime Bergman, in an interview with People Magazine.

He told the news provider that he decided to reveal the adulterous liaisons after his ex-mistress began to try and exploit the situation by blackmailing him for financial gain.

"I just want to be open and honest," he commented.

He said that following his admission he is now keen to work on his marriage with blonde beauty Bergman, who has had appearances in blockbuster hits such as Gone in Sixty Seconds.

Boreanaz made his name playing the delectable Angel in the hit TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The sexy star recently beat-off competition from British heartthrob Robert Pattinson to take home Hello Magazine's Sexiest Vampire prize.
