Infidelity gets political in the Philippines One of the Philippines'most senior politicians has admitted to having a secret affair.

Makati mayor Jejomar Binay, who is Pampanga's opposition vice-presidential candidate, admitted to having a bit on the side with an unknown mistress after media outlets reportedly became aware of his extramarital liaisons.

While the revelation has just broken in the public domain, he claims the unfaithful relationship happened "a long time ago" and is something that is known within his family.

He revealed that his wife was previously aware of the adultery, but has nevertheless remained as his partner.

Mr Binay told reporters: "I already asked for forgiveness from my wife. We have already talked about that within our family," Inquirer.net quoted him as saying.

High-profile infidelities seem to have been in abundance of late.

The French presidential couple were both recently accused of having secret affairs, something they have unanimously denied.

In addition, Jonas Bergstrom, fiance of Princess Madeleine of Sweden, was reportedly playing away from home with a Bournemouth University student.ADNFCR-2938-ID-19752623-ADNFCR
