The best way to get a bit of nookie could be to read your extramarital lover a classic romantic bed time story.

A new poll by ice cream and coffee brand Carte Noire shows that men who read to their women in bed are likely to be the recipients of much affection.

The study reveals that seven out of ten men regularly sooth their ladies into a deep slumber by reading out loud to them.

However, for those more keen on getting a bit on the side, rather than a good night's sleep, the researchers also found that two-thirds of women admitted to being more affectionate with partners who read to them.

Behavioural expert Judi James claims this has much to do with the "intimate tones" in which stories are read.

Adulterous men hoping to have a night time romp with their extramarital lover could therefore pick up a romantic novel or poetry collection to woo their mistress.
