Food tourism is a burgeoning industry, receiving more attention from tourists and tour operators alike, according to the International Culinary Tourism Association (ICTA).
ICTA president Erik Wolf said that food is fast-becoming a deal maker or breaker for those looking to book a romantic holiday.
A survey of Brits by cottages4you also found that food markets and restaurants are the top two factors when choosing a British town or city break.
Anyone hoping to spice up their secret affair this summer could think about taking their bit on the side to one of the UK's famous food markets such as the London Borough Market.
Celebrity eateries have also become popular with diners, with TV personalities such as Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre-White ensuring that your extramarital lover will be served up a treat.
