Adulterers may call naughty northerners to whisper sweet nothings
14 Apr 2010
Those who are married but looking and wish to spice up their love life may chose a Geordie mistress to whisper sweet nothings in their ear.A recent poll of over 5,000 people by hospitality chain Travelodge ranked the north-east accent as the UK's sexiest dialect, followed closely by Liverpool, Belfast and Edinburgh.
It seems the rest of Britain can't get enough of those angels of the north, with the naughty northerners capable of putting any adulterous man in the mood.
According to company spokeswoman Shakila Ahmed, the much-adored Newcastle-born Cheryl Cole may have helped to sway the vote.
"No doubt, the nation's sweetheart Cheryl Cole has certainly helped to place the jolly Geordie accent as top of the UK's regional accents listing as we cannot get enough of her," she remarked.
However, if you are playing away from home with a Geordie you may wish to carry out your extramarital liaisons further south.
A separate poll by Travelodge revealed that the north-east seaside city of Sunderland is one of the UK's top five least liked places in the UK, with respondents claiming that it has "nothing to offer", other than sweet talking mistresses, of course.
