Online dating industry overtakes porn

Online dating is now a bigger industry than porn, new research from the US has suggested.

According to a compilation of statistics on the websites by Online Schools, one in three women who use such sites have sex on a first encounter.

The internet has allowed for people to meet strangers for relationships of all sorts much more easily, with many involved in extra-marital affairs.

Taking into consideration Online Schools' new statistics, it appears a large number of women using such websites to embark on a discreet relationship are interested in getting physical as early as possible.

Online Schools study of romance on the web also indicated that men are most likely to hide the truth over their age, height and income, while women lie about their weight, physical attributes and age.

It also indicated that approximately 40 million people use dating services in the US, 15 million in India and 140 million in China.

In the UK, estimates suggest between five and eight million Brits have used some sort of online dating service, whether they were single or married but looking.
