Book exposes secret affairs of deceased labour politician
22 Mar 2010
A new biography accuses the deceased Labour politician Michael Foot, who passed just three weeks ago, of having three secret affairs, which he concealed from the public. It claims that the left-wing professional had a bit on the side with two of his secretaries and an Indian journalist, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The news provider reveals that Mr Foot's adulterous ways went on for many years and were known to his wife Jill Craigie.
He is believed to have maintained a long-standing secret affair of almost 20 years with Elizabeth Thomas, a friend of his cheated spouse.
However, despite its longevity his wife stood by him throughout this bout of infidelity and was apparently more concerned with his romantic liaison with BBC journalist Leila Pasha.
"Miss Craigie is said to have confronted her husband after discovering 'pornographic letters' from the reporter, and told her daughter she feared Foot would not give up [their] relationship."
Ultimately, she remained with her adulterous husband who admitted that he thought it possible to love two people at once.
He's not the first politician to have his infidelities cast into the limelight following death.
Last month, it was revealed that a series of love letters US president John F Kennedy had written to his Swedish mistress Gunilla von Post are to go under the hammer at an American auction house.
