China welcomes Woods for Year of the Tiger

China welcomes Woods for Year of the Tiger Tiger Woods' infidelity may have landed him in hot water in the US, where a number of sponsors have dropped him, but the world's number one golfer has never been more popular in China.

That is according to Tag Heuer, the luxury watchmaker that chose to play down its affiliation with the star across the Atlantic but is more than happy to be associated with Woods in the Far East.

As company chief executive Jean-Christophe Babin explained to the Sydney Morning Herald, different cultural attitudes towards adultery necessitated such a marketing strategy.

He said: "In China you have Tag Heuer with Tiger Woods everywhere because [with] the Chinese it rather increases their esteem.

"In China, by tradition, your success is measured by your number of mistresses."

With Bill Clinton also lending his support to Woods this week, it appears as if the golfer could be on the way towards mending his image in the eyes of the world.ADNFCR-2938-ID-19652476-ADNFCR
