However, the danger of getting caught lies in the increasing use of social networking sites, a news article suggests.

In an article with the Daily Record, journalist Annie Brown says computer "geeks have produced lots of gadgets to spy on a philandering partner's computers", which are made more easily accessible through general social networking platforms.

Sites such as Facebook, Friends Reunited and Twitter each have millions of users worldwide, which means there are more chances of getting caught liaising with your extramarital lover this way.

Her comments come after TV presenter Vernon Kay was found to be having multiple secret affairs, using the social networking forum Twitter as his vehicle.

To play it safe if you are looking for a bit of nookie, it could be best to stick to dating websites specially designed for married people who are keen to meet fellow adulterers only.
