The name is the game with discreet dating Anyone thinking of starting a secret affair through an online dating service should seriously think about their username if the results of a new survey are anything to go by.

Internet matchmaking site ArrangeMeADate.com found that bad usernames are a bigger turn-off for people than poor photographs when it comes to picking a potential suitor, according to a report on NewsLite.tv.

The dating website advises people to present themselves in a positive light. Even if you are simply looking for a bit on the side you won't want to come across as seedy or desperate.

"This is your space to sell yourself not air your failures and concerns", commented the dating service.

Some of the less popular usernames that featured in the study included Sad&Lonely1, Big'n'bubbly, Sweet&Shy, XXXratedguy and Cuddle Monster.

Lexi Proud, founder of ArrangeMeADate.com, told the news provider that online daters should stay away from adjectives, such as sexy, wild, mad and quirky, that can make them seem a bit odd.

"It might be tempting to give this a personal touch, but without potential suitors seeing this in the context of your personality it can come across as weird," he commented.

Of course, if you looking to strike up an adulterous relationship with an extra-marital lover you won't want to reveal your real name, as like TV presenter Vernon Kay, you could be found out by your cheated spouse.ADNFCR-2938-ID-19629767-ADNFCR
