John Terry 'would be hailed a hero' abroad

John Terry 'would be hailed a hero' abroad It's a pity for John Terry that he lives in England, according to Fifa president Sepp Blatter, who claims the philandering footballer would have been hailed a hero in some countries for his adulterous antics.

Following the news that the Chelsea player had been sacked as captain of the England side by manager Fabio Capello, Blatter suggested the whole affair has been blown out of proportion.

He criticised the "Anglo-Saxon" reaction to Terry's infidelity and insisted: "If this had happened in let's say Latin countries then I think he would have been applauded."

The 29-year-old is said to have enjoyed a secret affair with lingerie model Vanessa Perroncel, the former girlfriend of his England teammate Wayne Bridge.

This week he flew to Dubai, where his wife Toni has been holidaying since news of his adultery broke, in attempt to patch things up.

As he left Heathrow Airport, he said the last few weeks had been tough and he hopes he can "fix things".
