What not to buy your lover this Valentine's Day
11 Feb 2010
We're often given ideas on what to buy our partners for Valentine's Day - tips we can use to please our other halves and our extra-marital lovers. But what about what not to buy? Are there some gifts that we simply shouldn't give on February 14th?
According to wedding site Confetti.co.uk, there are. It carried out research among 1,100 women to find the worst ever Valentine's Day presents.
Among them was a vacuum cleaner, a pair of socks and a shoebox full of chest hair, which one lothario thought his lady would love because she had a thing for his torso wig.
Confetti.co.uk spokeswoman Carol Richardson said sticking to traditional gifts such as flowers, champagne or jewellery is a much safer bet.
Just don't confuse your gifts as one adulterous husband did, according to a survey respondent.
She said she unwrapped a box of sexy red lingerie on Valentine's Day, only to discover that it was actually addressed to her spouse's PA.
One way around this problem is to present yourself as a gift for your bit on the side, who probably won't be as needful of romantic gestures as your other half and may be happy with a bit of nookie.
