Marriages 'can survive infidelity'

Marriages 'can survive infidelity' Adulterers caught out having a secret affair will be glad to hear that marriages can survive infidelity, according to one expert.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, psychotherapist Valery Lanigan said married couples can rebuild their relationship provided they are honest with one another.

She claimed that giving a cheating spouse another chance is not a sign of weakness. In fact it suggests the opposite.

"I think the big issue is that to forgive someone a wrong, we need to be quite secure in ourselves," she remarked.

Ms Lanigan explained that often, when a husband or wife announced that he or she is sticking with their partner despite their actions, they are publicly criticised.

"That criticism is often coming from a sense of insecurity on the part of the critic," she argued.

One woman who has decided to forgive her husband for his infidelity is Toni Terri, who told OK! magazine that footballer John's liaison with Vanessa Perroncel will make them stronger.
