Women 'quicker to forgive John Terry' It seems women are quicker to forgive philanderer John Terry for his extra-marital affairs than men.

According to the Telegraph, a survey commissioned by ITV shows that 51 per cent of men believe he should resign as captain of the England football team.

By contrast, just 41 per cent of ladies share the same view, with 40 per cent claiming he should be allowed to keep his position of responsibility.

News of the sportsman's infidelities emerged last week when it was reported that he had enjoyed a secret affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the ex-girlfriend of his teammate Wayne Bridge.

Terry is married to Toni Poole and the couple have twin girls, born in May 2006.

He is expected to speak to England manager Fabio Capello this week, who will decide whether events in his private life should have any bearing on his future international career.

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old has been given time off by Chelsea to visit his wife in Dubai on Valentine's Day in an effort to patch things up.

He will miss the club's forthcoming FA Cup match against Cardiff City.
