Great places for first dates
7 Jan 2010
Those embarking on a discreet relationship have been offered some advice on where to go and what to do on a first date.In an article for the Telegraph, journalist Tom Chivers said there are a number of possibilities depending on people's interests.
He recommended a visit to an old-fashioned pub with a romantic garden, which could be a good option for those who want to head somewhere quiet and discreet.
If a date is into art, a trip to a gallery could be a good place to start as it gives couples an obvious talking point.
Mr Chivers pointed out that a number of art galleries have late night openings, which allows extra-marital daters to be flexible.
He warned against the cinema or the theatre, as it involves sitting quietly and not actually engaging in conversation.
Museums, like art galleries, could therefore be a good choice for culture vultures.
Of course those who really want to make an impression could go for something spectacular like hot air ballooning complete with a champagne toast.
"If heights aren't your thing, a river cruise should go down well," he added.
Meanwhile, Natalie Broxton from Female First magazine has offered ladies some style tips for first dates.
She said an LBD would be perfect for a meal in a classy restaurant, while jeans or leggings and a tunic top would work well for a more casual date.
