First date outfit 'depends on destination'
6 Jan 2010
Many ladies struggle over their wardrobe choices when going on a first date, particularly those who've been off the dating scene for a while. This may be especially true for those embarking on a discreet relationship who could be meeting someone for the first time after chatting to them online.
Fortunately, Natalie Broxton from internet magazine Female First has put together some helpful tips for women who want to dress the part.
She said that a first date outfit should depend on the destination. For example, ladies should dress up for a dinner date and down for a casual evening in a pub.
For a cinema date, she recommended leggings or jeans teamed with a tunic top of a motif t-shirt, with ballet pumps or brogues to finish the look.
Those enjoying an evening in a restaurant should get a little more dressed up, perhaps opting for a trusty LBD and jazzing it up with a few accessories.
"It can be tempting to go a little overboard, especially with it being your first date but sticking in the smart yet casual zone is your safest option," Ms Broxton stated.
Once the outfit is sorted, women should start thinking about how to impress their date in order to secure a second meeting.
According to Glamour magazine, engaging in interesting conversation and demonstrating intelligence are great ways to grab a man's attention.
