Fertile women prefer flirtatious men

Fertile women prefer flirtatious men Flirtatious men stand a better chance of winning a woman over if she is ovulating, according to researchers at the University of Portsmouth.

They found that women react more to flirty facial expressions when they are in the most fertile point of their monthly cycle.

This means men seeking an extra-marital lover should perhaps time their flirting carefully to ensure it has maximum effect.

Dr Edward Morrison, an evolutionary psychologist who led the study, said it can be hard to define what actually constitutes flirtatiousness.

"An ability to read and interpret the facial expressions and an awareness of what you are signalling with your own expressions could improve your chances of successful flirting," he stated.

But relationship author Sue Ostler warned recently that people should not read too much into flirting.

She pointed out that women often respond positively to flirtation, but may not share the same intentions as men.
