The other day I was mindlessly surfing on typical (for me0 keywords like ‘etramarital sex’ and’ married dating’  and I noticed that there were a very motley collection of google ads on the side of the page.  There amongst all the usual suspects were dating sites for disabled people such as disabilitymatch for disabled singles. There has been a lot of talk recently about how social networking sites like facebook have boosted the divorce figures in the UK and the States.  We had the same ting a few years back when friends reunited first started.   It was as if no one had ever cheated before or got divorced.  It has been tabloid shock horror as angry spouses spot their partners making whoopee on social network sites when they were supposed to be at a boring businesss conference.  With that in mind I was interested to read a really good article on the subject by Carl Bialik in the Wall St Journal.

Bialik very carefully anayses the data and the business/political agendas of the data providers and shows how such stats are widely open to interpretation.  If the survey makers and the tabloid press had their way we would all be playing away on facebook under the mistaken belief that we are really only 28 years old instead of being  regular middle aged adulterers.
